The Great Bend Little Panthers Early Education Center features 15 traditional classrooms and provides space for 288 children ages 3 to 4 years old. Previously, the early education center consisted of three separate preschools. Transitioning these separate schools into one purpose-built facility allowed for shared resources and helped save the district money.
To manage costs effectively, the team chose to use existing administrative office furnishings and reallocate that money to a school multipurpose space to enable flexible learning. This space was designed to enhance educational opportunities, allowing for various configurations and uses to meet evolving needs.
The team was able to integrate new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, data network, and fire systems with the existing infrastructure to enhance overall system performance. Additionally, through collaboration with the architect, the team was able to separate the education and office spaces with a firewall to meet code requirements.
