What was once a food desert, is now the catalyst for redevelopment in downtown Kansas City.

The Merc Co-Op is a 14,000 square-foot full service grocery store that supports the multi-cultural urban demographic with affordable, conventional, local and organic products along with hiring local workforce and management.

In addition to all the grocery basics, the store features a cafe, food prep station with walk-in coolers, and a small residential kitchen and classroom to teach nutrition and cooking classes. A below-grade loading dock allows smooth access to and from the kitchen and the supply shelves so employees can keep them properly stocked. Storm water tanks help with water runoff. Our team also enhanced the site’s exterior with new sidewalks, parking lot and landscaping.
