Our mission is to deliver the best building experience and enhance the journey for our associates, clients, partners and community.
Where are we?
Based in Kansas City, MO, McCownGordon Construction has a presence all over the US. We perform renovation and construction in Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska. Midwest-centered, McCownGordon has continued to grow since its founding in 1999 and has rapidly expanded to multiple states.
What do we build?
Our projects span a wide variety of categories and impact the lives of children, teachers, healthcare professionals, athletes, communities and more.
Civic: Our civic projects serve the communities we work in, such as library remodels and constructing new fire stations. The Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, KS is a civic project that involves the community in the rich history of the Flint Hills and prairies of Kansas.
Corporate: We work so you can work. From building our own headquarters in downtown Kansas City, McCownGordon has constructed many office and corporate spaces for companies across the Midwest. Our team expanded Garmin’s headquarters in Olathe, KS, providing more efficient workspaces and cutting-edge technology for this dynamic company.
Cultural: Construction isn’t all steel and bricks – it’s also about creating spaces that entertain and educate communities. Our team constructs and updates these important buildings that reinforce cultural and local pride. The Greensburg Big Well Museum in Greensburg, KS enlisted McCownGordon to construct this unique building dedicated to the world’s largest hand-dug well.
Federal: Attention to detail and a sophisticated approach makes McCownGordon a great choice for constructing government buildings that encourage efficiency while acknowledging local history. Our team built the Department of Justice U.S. Attorney’s office in Muskogee, OK to provide a professional space that incorporated the history and nature of Oklahoma.
Healthcare: Our team is committed to bringing the same level of care, attention, and expertise to the healthcare facilities we construct as the healthcare professionals who use them. Pharmacy remodels, medical office building expansions and hospital construction are a few ways in which we take part in making healthier communities. McCownGordon worked with Children’s Mercy Hospital to build a new Research Institute and to renovate various spaces within a fully operational hospital for this cutting-edge healthcare facility.
Higher Education: Our buildings house, educate and provide spaces for the next generation to achieve their goals. Higher education projects span athletic facilities, classrooms, heating and cooling plants, and more. Kansas State University Engineering Expansion was an exciting project for our frequent partner, KSU, allowing for science and innovation to collaborate within this space.
Hospitality and Housing: McCownGordon constructs spaces that are authentic and welcoming, including hotels, dorms and other housing facilities. The Garfield Senior Living Apartments in Abilene, KS brought new life to a former 1940’s schoolhouse through innovative design.
Industrial: From plants to factories, the facilities we construct help create products, technology and information across the Midwest and beyond. Through a design-build process, McCownGordon constructed the O. H. Kruse Feed Technology Innovation Center for Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS.
K-12 Education: The education of future generations is an important responsibility and McCownGordon helps make it happen. We’ve partnered with several school districts over the years to make their visions come to life. USD-497 Lawrence Public Schools chose McCownGordon to renovate nine elementary schools in the district, helping improve the education of children in the area.
Philanthropic: McCownGordon is dedicated to giving back to our communities and our philanthropic projects help clients achieve this. Our team constructed the Ronald McDonald Longfellow House in Kansas City, MO, which provides 41 rooms of temporary housing for families in need.
Retail/Mixed-Use: Our team works with our clients to achieve the best possible value for projects, and our mixed use developments are one way to get a great ROI. In Overland Park, KS, McCownGordon constructed the iconic Prariefire which includes a museum, parking garage and retail.
Science & Technology: Our cutting-edge technology helps construct laboratories and research facilities that fuel scientific discovery. Selected by South Dakota University, McCownGordon renovated their Animal Disease Research & Diagnostics Laboratory in Brookings, SD.
Sports & Recreation: A great athletic facility can make or break a sporting experience. Our expert team creates inviting environments for competition and recreation. In Kansas City, MO, McCownGordon renovated the historic Kemper Arena into HyVee Arena, bringing new life to the future of this iconic space.
Veloxity: No matter the scale of a project, McCownGordon brings the same level of dedication and integrity to each client. For smaller buildings and renovations, our team crafts meaningful spaces that impact users. For Kansas City Young Audiences, McCownGordon provided a flexible and educational facility that can bend to the shifting needs of the performance and workplace.
