Expansion and renovation of Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph Hospital by McCownGordon Construction.

The project includes additional behavioral health exam rooms, expanded waiting room and reception space and relocation of a psychiatric palliative care unit. Ascension’s goal with this project is to provide the space needed to deliver a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors in response to growing psychiatric patient volumes.

In an active healthcare facility, it is vital to minimize disruptions during construction. McCownGordon worked with Ascension to create temporary solutions for patients and staff in an effort to decrease interruptions of day-to-day operations. Additionally, our team reduced the number and sequencing of project phases to promote schedule efficiency and reduce general conditions costs.

Upon completion in 2026, the updated healthcare facility will have sufficient and safe space for behavioral health patient care and provide increased access to those in the community seeking emergency services.
