McCownGordon Construction promotes first chief marketing officer
Sheri Johnson joins the c-suite, positioning the firm for strategic growth
Kansas City-based McCownGordon Construction recently promoted Sheri Johnson to chief marketing officer. The promotion recognizes Johnson’s outstanding contributions to elevating the McCownGordon brand and reputation as one of the nation’s top construction management firms.
Johnson has been with the firm since 2018, most recently serving as senior vice president, marketing. Prior to joining McCownGordon, she served in various executive leadership positions at an Overland Park-based agency where she provided strategic counsel and marketing leadership to the firm’s industry-leading clients.
In her new role as chief marketing officer, Johnson will continue to work alongside the executive leadership team and business unit leaders to accelerate the company’s vision and execute strategic initiatives. Johnson has played an integral role in the process of opening a Dallas-Fort Worth office and launching a national business unit focused on building solutions for the manufacturing sector. She plays an instrumental role in advancing the company’s strategic plan.
Additionally, she will continue to oversee a team focused on brand building, corporate marketing, vertical market initiatives, sales support, customer experience and internal communications for the firm’s four offices.
“Our firm continues to grow both regionally and nationally, and we have worked hard to scale the company to increase our presence both geographically and within key vertical markets,” said Ramin Cherafat, CEO. “We’re thrilled to be able to promote from within for this new key role. Sheri has been an innovative leader here and an integral part of our strategic planning process for the last few years. We’re confident she will continue to propel our brand forward even more as CMO”.
Active in the community, Johnson currently chairs the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Executive Women’s Leadership Council, and serves on the boards of AdventHealth, Goodwill and the Kansas City Area Development Council. With a passion for enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the construction industry, she is a graduate of the Cornell University DE&I certificate program. Johnson graduated from the University of Denver with a B.A. in Mass Communications and Psychology.
